Last October, FINRA introduced a new exam available to anyone interested in a career in securities, including college students. It's is the first time FINRA has made a securities exam available to the public, without requiring sponsorship from a financial firm.
The Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam is an introductory-level exam that assesses a candidate's knowledge of basic securities industry information, including: fundamental concepts to the industry; types of products and their risks; the structure of the securities industry markets; regulatory agencies and their functions; and prohibited practices.
